Stillness Is not the absence of action. (This is something I’m still working on)
For most of my life, I’ve been in motion. The momentum feels like home.
Progress, productivity, impact, repeat…
When things slow down it’s uncomfortable. I struggle to sit still. I feel guilty. Like I should be doing something useful. But I am realizing that stillness is not the absence of action. It’s a different kind of action. It’s not passive it’s restorative. It’s where perspective comes in. Where you stop pushing and start listening.
I quickly forget some of the most profound moments I’ve experienced have been in silence, on my board at the backline. No noise. No cell phone. No ‘to do’ list. Just the rhythm of my breath and the sea. Those moments recalibrate me.
If you are someone who finds it hard to pause, sometimes the most valuable thing you can do is nothing at all. Let the stillness work on you. Stillness is where clarity finds us. It’s where intuition whispers. It knows what it’s doing….
